Designed to evoke a sense of permanence, this Tennessee estate utilizes forms and materials found throughout history to create a truly timeless presence. The exterior is clad in classic, heavy stone masonry, punctuated by traditional, steeply pitched gable rooflines. However, the architecture deliberately engages with the present by replacing vast sections of the heavy stone with modern, expansive walls of steel-framed glass windows and doors. This striking juxtaposition of ancient stone and modern steel allows natural light to flood the interior while providing clear, uninterrupted views of the meticulously landscaped grounds.
To further blur the lines between the built environment and nature, the home features a lush, planted green roof deck. The rear of the property is entirely dedicated to outdoor living, anchored by a vast, multi-tiered swimming pool that reflects the timeless geometry of the home.
