Located in southern Minnesota, this residence was designed specifically for two doctors who deeply understand the mental and emotional toll of our long, grey winters. To combat the seasonal gloom, the core of the home is dedicated to a vibrant, life-affirming "green atrium." This soaring, light-filled space serves as the central circulation hub, featuring a winding staircase flanked by lush, built-in planters overflowing with tropical greenery.
To maximize natural light even on the shortest days, a large skylight is positioned directly above the atrium, bathing the white walls and warm wood floors in sunshine. At the top of the stairs, nestled within the indoor jungle, is a cozy, built-in seating nook. This provides a warm, inviting destination within the home—a private, sun-drenched place where the clients can retreat, read, and enjoy the mental uplift of a vibrant garden, regardless of the snow falling outside.
